Restoring the Ratu Finau

The Fijian Drua “Ratu Finau Tui Nayau” is the last of the great ocean going double-hulled canoes and she has found a resting place in the Fiji Museum. Of enormous heritage value, she was recently inspected by two conservation experts from the Te Papa museum in New Zealand as part of preparations for a detailed conservation report ahead of important restoration work. Funded by the New Zealand High Commission, this is the start of an ongoing collaboration between the Fiji Museum and Te Papa.
